Commissioned by the HKSAR Education Bureau to develop and administer the programme, FSTE launched the Diploma of Applied Education (DAE) in the academic year 2023/24. DAE, in replacement of Diploma Yi Jin, carries the torch of providing an alternative pathway for secondary six school leavers as well as adult learners (Hong Kong residents aged 21 and above) in obtaining a formal academic qualification for further study and career pursuits.
Recognition of Qualification
Students who have successfully completed* the programme will be awarded the Diploma of Applied Education (DAE).

Deemed comparable to the attainment of Level 2 standard in 5 subjects (including Chinese Language and English Language) in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination.
For students who have successfully completed the Maths Plus complementary course, the qualification acquired under the Programme is comparable to the attainment of Level 2 standard in 5 subjects (including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics) in the HKDSE Examination. |

Aims and Features
The DAE Programme has an optimised curriculum design and content, incorporating a large number of elements of Vocational and professional education and training (VPET), communication and information technology skills etc.. It aims at helping students in further study (including but not limited to articulating to VPET programmes) and strengthening their employability.
