Higher education is becoming a major driver of economic competitiveness in an increasingly knowledge-based society. This huge expansion of post-secondary education, has raised concerns in society about the maintenance of standards and the overall quality of provision. All of the major self-financing institutions in Hong Kong operate on a non-profit-making, providing affordable programmes in a self-financing environment requires institutions to find an appropriate balance between quality and cost-effectiveness.
In response to these concerns, this Conference aims to examine relevant issues and facilitate the interflow of good practices in 3 important aspects – (1) quality assurance; (2) student support; and (3) staff development, with a view to advancing the quality in self-financing tertiary education sector in Hong Kong.
